I spent from 2016 to 2018 as the Revealing Reptiles Project Officer for Durham Wildlife Trust. This involved recruiting a volunteer team, training them and organising surveys for reptiles across vice county 66 which includes Gateshead, Sunderland and County Durham. A population atlas was produced at the end of the project.
I was contracted by the National Trust at Gibside to manage the habitat enrichment project for grass snakes on the estate. This work also tied in with GCN (Great Crested Newt) habitat management within the SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) area of the Gibside estate.
I am the current vice chair and field training officer of the North East Reptile & Amphibian Group affiliated with ARG UK (Amphibian & Reptile Groups UK) and train the group members in herpetofauna (collective term for reptiles & amphibians) identification and survey techniques for those partaking in NARRS surveys. (National Amphibian & Reptile Recording Scheme).
I have given lectures at ARG UK conferences.
In 2013 I ran a successful 5 day course on reptile ecology on behalf of the Natural History Society of Northumberland.
