Red Campion Silene dioica Seeds

Red Campion Silene dioica Seeds

Wild flower seeds grown and harvested from the Wilderness Tamed garden.

  • Description

These stunning Red Campion Wild Flower Seeds will brighten any bed or border in your garden.
Red Campion Silene dioica prefer a sunny sight but will tolerate light shade as well complimenting other perennials in the border or along a hedge.
Can also be grown in large pots.
Red Campion grow to1 metre in height and spread widely.
Makes a great cut flower and regular cutting of the dead flower stems will promote repeat flowering.
Will seed readily and abundantly so we advise removing the flower stems once the flowers fade and before the seed pods ripen and burst open. Add to a mix of other wild flower seeds to create a Native Meadow of Bee & Insect Friendly Garden Perennials.
See the Wilderness Tamed store for other Wild Flower Seeds.
Red Campion Silene dioica are a good source of nectar to many pollinating insects and bees and will attract lots of wild life to your garden.
You can sow these red Campion Wild Flower seeds as soon as you get them directly into the ground where you want them to grow. Do not add compost or fertiliser to the ground as, like most native meadow plants, they do not require a nutrient rich soil. Rake lightly in to cover the seed and water regularly during dry weather to help establish the young plants. If sown between July and October you should expect flowering the following year.
